You should install W7 first then W8 – that’s been the case so far with Xp, Vista and Win 7. The rule is – install older versions of Windows first. If you install Win 7 after Win 8, it will overwrite the Win 8 bootloader; you may have to edit the Win 7 bootloader manually to restore Win 8. Or use software such as EasyBCD.

Q&A: Is it possible to make the backup using Vista Home tool, and then restore this data on Windows 7?

Question by Eugene: Is it possible to make the backup using Vista Home tool, and then restore this data on Windows 7?
Hey, I’m thinking about how to restore data after a clean install of Windows 7. There is a tool in Vista Home to back up files, is there a backup/restore tool in Windows 7 and will it be compatible with Vista files?
Thanks!

Why complicate things. You can just copy all your data to an external drive manually. Drag and drop and then replace it the same way.

Should I do this when i install xp to boost up proformance?

Question by TravisX: Should I do this when i install xp to boost up proformance?
- Turn off system restore
- Use a Anti-cpu hogging anti-virus (AVG)
- Turn the battery to max proformance
- Disk defrag and clean up
-Compress my C: drive
- Use ccleaner and defraggler for my cleaning tools

After all that scan computer for bad sectors and repair them

Does that seem good?

Windows xp professional sp2

NOD32 is a better anti-virus tool and has lower impact see http://www.eset.com

DON’T compress your C drive as that has a negative impact on performance.

2Gb of RAM has a performance boost

Keep the number of items on your desktop to a minimum and never put files on your desktop – always use shortcuts.

For best performance go into Control Panel -> System -> Advanced -> (Performance) Settings and select Adjust for best performance.

I don’t know ccleaner or defraggler but I can recommend Registry Mechanic (see http://www.pctools.com/registry-mechanic/?ref=afl_nenextech)
