It depends on the size of the house.
I pay $ 65
She cleans everything!!
washes sheets, folds clothes, cleans all bathrooms from top to bottom, dusts, vaccums, does dishes, everything.
She comes every other week.

What do you think? Answer below!

I pay 80 dollars every other week for a 4 bedroom 2 1/2 bath two storey home. Since I have a lot of different types of stone (marble, granite, limestone, etc.) and a lot of antiques, I provide the cleaning supplies that I want used on them. My housekeeper doesn’t do laundry, nor steam or upholstery nor window cleaning, so I think you should charge more for those services. Good luck, you would be in high demand in my neighborhood, especially if you can read & write English!

I asked a related question not too long back. It was, How much would you pay a housekeeper to clean your house? Because I had a woman come to my door who was not licensed or insured, could barely speak english and ask for $ 20 an hour!!! Oh, and I provide all the supplies. She told me it would take approx 4 hours to clean (and not even all of my rooms) my 3700 sf home. And to throw in a load or two of laundry while she was working, she wanted a “tip”. That’s why I asked my question. Oh, and I called 2 of her references and those woman confessed that they felt they were paying too much — but for some reason didn’t feel warranted in saying anything to her about it.

I got varying answers and I think it had to do with the location on some of them. I’m in ID. The responses I got were that people paid anywhere from $ 120 per visit down to $ 45 per visit for appox. the same amount of hours worked. My own mother has a maid come and stay about 6 hrs once a week and the maid charges her $ 35/day and my mom just rounds it upto $ 40 – and this lady does everything – whatever needs to be done.

After thinking it all through along with the job market the going rates are about $ 10-12 per hour. But, I was and probably am willing to pay someone $ 85 for the INITIAL deep clean and $ 65 for a biweekly visit (even less for weekly) regardless how long it takes. AND this is to clean my WHOLE house; but I will say not every room requires the same level of attention of course.

By the way, I never did call the woman back to engage her services as I felt she was being way too greedy. I hope this helps you as you go forward with your new venture. Good luck!

YOU WILL GET NO INSURANCE FROM YOUR CLIENTS.THERE WILL BE NO WORKERS COMP. WHEN YOU CAN;T/DON’T GO TO WORK..YOU DO NOT GET PAID. WHEN YOUR CLIENTS GO ON VACATION..YOU DO NOT GET PAID. IF YOUR CAR BREAKS DOWN AND YOU HAVE NO MONEY TO REPAIR IT,YOU WILL EITHER HAVE TO BEG SOMEONE TO CARRY YOU AND YOUR SUPPLIES TO AND FROM WORK OR MISS THAT /THOSE DAYS. EITHER WAY NO PAY!!!! I HAVE CLEANED HOUSES. I DID THOROUGH CLEANING,WORKING NO MORE THAN 6 HOURS A DAY. NO WINDOWS,SPOT CLEANING,OVENS, REFRIGERATORS. THAT WAS EXTRA PAY,IF I CHOSE TO DO IT. MY FEE FOR A DAY..NOT PER HOUR,PER DAY WAS $ 125.00 AND THAT WAS IN THE MID-1990′s. I WOULD CLEAN CHANDELIERS, ON TOP OF BOOK SHELVES,EVERY NOOK AND CRANNIE. BUT DEAR ,PEOPLE THAT WANT YOUR SERVICES,DOES NOT RESPECT YOUR SERVICES. THEY SEE IT AS MENIAL,YET NECESSARY AND AS BADLY AS THEY WANT IT DONE,THEY DO NOT WANT TO DO IT. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR ACHY BACK,CRACKED KNEES,MIGRAINS FROM SMELLING CHEMICALS. MY ADVICE TO YOU IS TO GET YOURSELF NO MORE THAN 3 CLIENTS ON A REGULAR BASIS AND HAVE A COMPLETE UNDERSTANDING. I ALSO WORKED PARTIES WHEN MY CLIENTS ENTERTAINED,KEEPING DISHES WASHED,FOOD DISHES FILLED. THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO WILL RESPECT YOUR ‘CAREER’. BUT FEW IN BETWEEN.
