Question by Pink Floofer: My mom is angry at me for cleaning the house?
Hi, I have a mom who just came back from a buisness trip like literally right now. While she was gone for 3 days, I decided to clean the whole entire house while she was gone as a surprise. I mean every nook and cranny. I cleaned the windows and had to get out the big ladder to do it, I cleaned off [with several different cleaners] the shutters that nobody ever even looks at and washed every possible thing I could in the laundry machine, and put loads of dishes in the dishwasher nonstop. She is livid with me. She says I messed everything up and the house looks worse than it did before. I almost got tears in my eyes when she started digging everything out of the cupboards and putting them back in sloppily because the way I organized them “Sucked”. Also apparently I “stole” a box of mesquite fire burning chimney chips from under the sink…. can you tell me why I would do this? Me neither.
I also cleaned the fireplace COMPLETELY and sanded the fire log holder.
I stayed up all night to keep cleaning- I have had maybe like 7 hours of sleep in two days.
One of my wrists has brown spots on it now and my left hand is all scratchy and has purple spots. The skin on my hands hurt and are really raw from all the chemicals.
I also bought groceries and cleaning supplies.
And got my sister to take the pets to get groomed and bathed at Petsmart.
She’s angry that I put the rest of the house to clean before I cleaned my own room and I should stay out of everyones “sh!t”. What should I do? Why is she so mad at me? I cleaned the general vicinity of the house, I didn’t even go in her room.
I asked her if she had a bad trip and she was like “No, but what you did ruined my day.”

Tell her
you were only trying to make her happy, and how it hurts that you are saying these things, and show her how scratched your hands are. And tell her to appreciate it!

I don’t understand why she is acting that way. If I had done all that for my mother she would be ecstatic. All I can say is to talk to her. Tell her you didn’t mean to make her angry and that you were trying to please her and thought she would like it and that you weren’t trying to be in anyones business. Maybe she she had a tough time on her trip or she was hiding something she didn’t want you to find. Just talking to her.
