Interesting Game…,
This game was interesting in that the cultural, industrial, technological, and psychological aspects of Alcatraz prisoners (and the US as a whole at the time Alcatraz was used) are touched on – such as the boat arriving only twice a day with supplies and new hired guards. However, this game was difficult to understand because of the lack of help from the game tutorial mode.
When I first started playing this game, I used the tutorial mode. The tutorial was somewhat helpful, but not as helpful as the tutorials have been in other tycoon games. So I looked around online for other tutorials or walkthroughs – something, ANYTHING to help me figure out how to make the prisoners, staff, and guards happy. I couldn’t really find any full walkthroughs. That made me wonder: is this game so difficult that no one has really taken the time to make a complete walkthrough guide for the general public?
I found this game difficult because of a few different factors. First, there are lots of tabs on the left and right of the screen which are explained briefly in the tutorial. But there are so many of them, that it’s difficult to get the hang of using them all for what they need to be used for. Also, I had no idea the ratio of guards to prisoners I needed, nor did I understand how to improve the moods of the prisoners. Also, you can buy different things for your prison (i.e. a workout area for the yard or tables for the mess hall), but there is no explanation as to what the prisoners want. On the tabs where you buy things for the different rooms of your cellhouse, it looks as though, as the game goes on, more items may become available for purchase (as there are many “blank” spaces next to the things you are allowed to purchase at the beginning of the game), though no explanation is given as to how to get those items, nor when those items appear, nor the contents of those items. In other words, I would like to know how to achieve the highest possible happiness for the people in the game, and I’d like to know how to achieve the best-working prison (with the best amenities) in my game. No help is given as to how to achieve either of those.
These are just a few examples. Overall, the game is interesting, but there’s really no assistance given. And for people like myself who have no patience to figure out 90% of the game on my own, it was frustrating.

|Horrible Game,
Horrible game!! I have played most of the Tycoon games and this one is by far the worst, which is a shame because they are usually great and fun games to ply. This game is far from fun and entertaining. The game crashes constantly, like every 10 minutes so save your game every few minutes, otherwise you loose all your progress. It’s impossible to make money to buy extra buildings and staff as I can’t seem to get past $10,000 as everything you have to buy on a daily basis takes all of your daily profit, so you can’t get anywhere in the game. HORRIBLE!!! Please take this game off the market and fire the people that invented it….DON’T BUY!!!!!!!!!

This game is pure trash. Interresting concept, but EVERYTHING is done wrong, is buggy, slow even on good PC, just terrible all over. Can’t believe I wasted the past 5 hours playing this crap. Do not buy this game, it is the worst of the worst. My God, how does a serious company/self-respecting developer even allow this to be released….
