Shonna, organize your supplies. Mix a bucket of water and cleaner to use to “wet dust” and gather all supplies and head to the bedrooms and baths first. Put chemicals in the toilets and spray showers/tubs with cleaner. let all this sit while you make beds – clean showers/tubs first then toilets. vac floor – do counters, sinks mirrors – make certain you wipe all horizontals with rag wring out from bucket. starting with tallest items in next room(should be a bedroom) wet dust – dry if necessary (do blinds- you might have to dry). After dusting – vac – make sure you wipe all lamps, tvs, etc. continue through the entire house following the tallest down to floor plan – it will work great

first, make a list of areas to be cleaned.identify which area needs tough cleaning. make sure to clean first the area that needs more of your attention.
I cannot say that I know all the reasons that someone would hire someone to clean their home, but if I were to hire someone to clean mine, it would be because there are certain, more time consuming tasks that I am not able to get to on a regular basis.
The things I would expect would be:
bathroom-
*clean the toilet
*clean the bathtub- paying special attention to the fixtures- *use a toothbrush or other small brush to shine the faucets and showerhead
*clean the sink, again, paying special attention to the fixtures
*clean the mirrors
*sweep and mop the floor
*some people have tiles or would require you to clean the walls in the bathroom
ITEMS NEEDED:
**important – when cleaning a bathroom- materials used in the bathroom should only be used in the bathroom- get seperate mop, broom, scrubbrushes, rags, etc for the bathroom than you owuld use for other rooms in the house
*rags – lint free rags or newspaper for mirrors
*toothbrush or small scrub brush
*scrub pads
*broom
*mop
*window cleaner
*toilet bowl cleaner
*Lysol, Pine Sol or some natural, chemical free multi purpose cleaner that can be used for sinks, tub, outside of toilet and floor
Kitchen:
*clean cabinet tops
*stove
*clean cabinet faces
*sink – again paying attention to the fixtures
*depending on the person- vacuum or sweep out cabinets and drawers in the kitchen
*clean garbage can
*sweep and mop floors
ITEMS NEEDED:
*scrub pad
*rags
*toothbrush or small scrub brush
*broom
*mop
*multi purpose kitchen cleaner
*wood cleaner for cabinets (eg. Murphy’s Oil Soap)
*pay attention to counter tops and ask homeowner what kind of coutertops- you would not use the same cleaner on granite as you would on formica – make sure you know what cleaners are safe for the surfaces you are cleaning
For the rest of the house – a duster, a vacuum cleaner, window cleaner and lint free rags or newspaper
Pay special attention to light fixtures in the house and ceiling and corners where dust and cobwebs collect.
Be prepared to vacuum drapes and sofas , chairs , upholstered furniture
Dust picture frames
clean door handles and pay attention to light switches and other places on the walls and doors that get touched a lot
***You may not be asked or expected to do all of the above , but you should have the tools and materials handy and be prepared to do these things
I usually clean for someone else like I do when I am having a party at my own house. Dust first, then vaccuum. Clean mirrors next, then mop any floors that need cleaning. Clean the countertops in bathrooms and kitchen. Clean tub and commodes well. They shouldn’t expect window scrubbing. That is going beyond cleaning.
One good tip is to never use elbow grease when soaking will work. Example, use a water spray bottle or windex in the microwave, spray it real good, let it set a few minutes, and wipe clean. Same goes for anything dried and crustly on counters or in pots and pans. Always use a damp rag for dusting.
I don’t know if this will help you-but here goes. 9 parts water and 1 part vinegar. Put it into a spray bottle. It will clean everything. You can add a few drops of pepperment oil also.
