Question by Kizzy: What happens if you miss the four day window to appeal a ticket with the both civil AND criminal violations?
I have excessive tints on my car that need to be removed and was pulled over for it, along with a tail light fuse that had gone out that day. To make matters worse the officer informed me that my liscense was suspended.
I didn’t get notice of the suspension because I recently moved three times. I had no idea the tail light was out and I had already recieved a ticket for the tints 2 months before and this was the first time driving since then. (I was coming back from the mall with cleaning supplies to take the tints off myself).
The point is, I had no idea I only had four days to appeal any violation marked criminal and it has been about a week. I thought I had 21 days. The officer marked all three violations as criminal which I’m not exactly sure is right anyway. And he didnt write any dollar ammounts on the ticket.
Can anybody tell me what happens when you miss this four day window? And what should I do?
I live i Boston.
I also want to add that the officer did not write a courthouse for me to appeal to so I have no idea where to go with this problem.

Without knowing where this happened I can’t give you a solid answer. Driving without a license in many places carries a possible jail sentence. The tints and the taillight will likely be resolved in a simple fine. I would recommend a lawyer, in the courthouses I work in, lawyers usually make sure their clients do not go to jail for driving on a suspended license. I recommend resolving this ASAP failure to pay your fines in a timely manner and resolve your case can lead to collection fees and possibly a warrant. Good luck!
I have more information here on Illinois suspension (if that is where you are from)

You lost the possibility for an appeal. You can try contacting the court, and see if they will extend the time, if not, you just plead guilty.
