Question by Thomas R: window washing business?
I’m a college student who has time on the weekends. I was thinking of going around to small local business in the shopping centers and offering them a window cleaning service. It came to me because so of the store fronts are disgraceful and what better way to make some quick cash. I was just wondering what the best way to approach it would be. I was thinking I could go to a business ask if they want their windows washed every 2 weeks on Saturday give then a little bit about myself, why I’m doing it and what they can get out of it or beat the price of their current window washer. I’m just curious about pricing. Do I charge $ 10 per window thats about 15 ft by 6ft when they have about 3 or 4 in the store front? Is that too much or too little? Also what tools would I need and where can I get them at a fair price locally?
Thanks so much!

Answer by Desalene Sounds like a fun idea, before you jump in get all the legalities out of the way. Businesses are more likely to respond to someone whom seems organized and reliable, so before you start beating the pavement make sure you are licensed/bonded and have a good “name” for yourself. It a low investment with big payoffs, check out this link for more tips: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2095999/tips_for_starting_a_business.html?cat=3
Question by sl1982: I am thinking about opening a window washing business and need ideas?
I am thinking about opening a window-washing services business. This will mainly be for businesses. Do you personally know anyone in your town who owns one? What are some good ideas (besides marketing and advertising, all set with that) on how to make good money with it? Also, what kind of equipment/tools would I need besides squeegees and the solution to clean with? Any suggestions would help? Thanks so much

Answer by Jane I don’t know them personally, but I used to pay my boss’s personal bills. She would have her home’s windows done each year for an outrageous price!
Good luck with this economy as that would considered a luxury item.
You may need to invest in some type of lift for windows on the second floors (and above).
Look online for these types of business and get some quotes for a fictional building. This will give you an idea of the prices they are charging. Also ask them how they do upper floor windows, products they use, etc.
Good Luck!
Question by Samuel M H: I need a name for my patented window washing tool.?
It reaches windows high above the ground with a scrubber and squeegee mounted on a washing head with two rows of spray jets. The washing head is attached to a telescopic extension pole with a cleaning solvent reservoir attached at the lower end with a control valve. The lower end is connected to a graden hose. No ladder or buckets are needed.
