Question by BUDDY: Window Cleaning Business First Step?
Hi,
I know which supplies to buy, but I’m curious: before starting to clean windows for cash, do I need to form an LLC, or can I simply start advertising my services around town and create a name for the time being until I make enough $ $ to become established?

Hi, Buddy! I clean small offices and know a guy that cleans windows at strip malls. He gets $ 8.50 for about 2 minutes cleaning 2 large windows and a door. Wow! I don’t think you’ll need a LLC, but you should check with your local City or County clerk to see if a permit is needed. They will tell you to get a fictitious name (DBA-doing business as). It’s not really necessary in the beginning, though. The local government uses it to tax you for equipment, etc, but you’ll need it to open a business bank account. You could get liability insurance to protect you from claims of damage or theft. I have a good resource for you on my Squidoo lens about starting a cleaning business…the link is in my profile.
